The Hope of Your Truth

Couldn't I swear by my deep justice,
This sense that I'm wronged
And everyone I love?
But like the man forgiven
who doesn't forgive,
holding on to what is owed
instead of letting go
of all that's not,
I become less like
You, more like my
adversary,
clinging to excuses
rather than the hope
of Your truth.
