After God had created Adam and Eve, he asked his highest angels to worship man. The archangel Michael began immediately. The devil, however, refused. He didn't want to lose his status and therefore shouted at God, “I don't understand! Why should I worship a creature made of earthly dust? I was created before man. Man has to worship me.” Michael warned the devil to obey God better. But the devil proudly said, “I am the most beautiful of all angels and will now fly to the highest heaven and sit next to God on his throne.” What an overconfidence! The cheeky devil wanted to be like God. Of course, the Almighty did not allow this, and the devil's rapid ascent ended with his fall. A devil is drawn upwards; upwards is his favorite direction.

It is safe to say that the devil has a tendency towards megalomania, which is reflected in his children. An interesting phenomenon can be found in psychiatric institutions, where patients sometimes think they are Jesus. Such people are strongly influenced by misleading spirits. Someone who thinks he is God is forsaken by all good spirits. Chapter 2 of the 2nd epistle to the Thessalonians is about the man of sin, the son of perdition. This man, completely possessed by Satan, will one day, shortly before Jesus returns, sit down in a temple (house of prayer) and claim that he is God.
