The word “more” immediately makes me think of greed, which is one of the deadly sins. A more appropriate word for mortal sin would be capital vice. The desire to have more is one of the great vices of mankind. The other vices are pride, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. Selfishness is a clear characteristic of all seven deadly sins. And selfishness divides people.

Is it not more blessed to give than to receive? Every discerning Christian should know that you cannot acknowledge the Creator God as the supreme boss if you are not humble at the same time. And this then manifests itself in renunciation and restriction. So less instead of more, but it doesn't really fit in with today's world. No house! No car! No boat! This message does not appeal to a society spoiled by consumerism. Okay, everyone should have a roof over their head, but does it have to be a feudal villa? Aspirational goals for a Christian should be: Drive less, eat less meat—it's good for the environment. Less air travel; preferably do without it altogether. Simply consume less. Consumption fuels the economy but is often not sustainable.

This unsustainable consumer behavior characterizes today's world, with money playing a major role. Is it necessary to fly to a dream beach in the Maldives? No, in a climate crisis, these things should be over. By the way, climate is the statistics of the weather. I can't forbid anyone from flying on a vacation plane, but I personally can do without air travel. The environmental destruction caused by vacation flights is then no longer on my tab. Climate change means a change in lifestyle. Anyone who continues to book non-essential flights in view of the current situation will have this added to their tab.
