My husband is working

My kids are playing with their friends

I’m alone in a chair watching

Is it wrong to cry on the fourth of July?

My kids are laughing and running

My husband is making a living

My life is fine, but my eyes want to cry

Is it wrong to cry on the fourth of July?

The seats next to me are empty

My heart is sad, the days of together are ending.

My kids don’t remember me through their joy

It’s okay though, to cry on the fourth of July.

My family is happy as they run and play and work and survive

My life is complete and since that is true I will cry as I sit and watch the sky cry its colors too.

It’s a good thing the sky and I cry on the fourth of July.
