Chapter 1

V1 v2 clearly confirms that Elohim refers to YHVH the Father and not to the son. Polumeros-Greek for by many times and polutropos in many ways. The many ways in which YHVH spoke to the fathers were a. Directly cf Ex 33:11 b. Through dreams Gen 37:5 c. visions Gen 15:1. The fathers refers to the Hebrew ancestors, who were spoken to by the prophets e.g. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel. This is exclusively expressed in scripture cf Gen 31:3; 48:15; Ex 13:5; Num 1:2.

V2 In the 1st century, Elohim the Father directly spoke to that generation through His Son Yeshua, whose gospel was further evangelized by his disciples and early believers e.g. Paul, Timothy and Titus. Note that the last days began in the first century AD and are an age prophesied in Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:17-21. Prior to this the Holy Spirit was restricted to a few mainly Hebrew prophets. Many Bible teachers claim that the Holy Spirit only began to reside in men post-Pentecost, and that He only fell upon prophets of old. This is contrary to scripture which more than clearly states that the Holy Spirit resided in these prophets of old cf Ps 51:11; Isa 63:11; Dan 4:8-9,18; Lk 1:41,67. In the end days of which we live however, the Bible expressly states that the Holy Spirit shall be poured upon ALL men i.e. all those who believe regardless of creed nor colour.

Yeshua, being the Son of Elohim is given all things from eternity to eternity. All things come from Elohim the Father and have been given to the Son. 1 Cor 8:6 is pivotal in understanding the Father versus the Son’s role in creation. All creation is ek/of, out of, from the Father and we are eis/in, for Him. Yeshua the Son on the other hand made all things, which are of the Father and all things in the Father are brought into creation by the Son. In other words, had Yeshua been absent all creation that is in and comes out of the Father may not have been made, or may have needed another creator. Ultimately it is indisputable that Yeshua created all things cf Jn 1:3.

V3 Yeshua is the image of Elohim the Father cf Gen 1:26, and is the light of Elohim cf Jn 1:14,18; 1 Jn 1:5; Jn 8:12. Col 1:15-17 further reiterates these eternal truths. The word translated upholding is phero which means to bring forth. So Yeshua brings forth all things by the rhema/utterance of His dunamis/power, might. Yeshua’s mission on earth as a man was to be the ultimate sacrifice for mankind to purge our sins. Having completed this mission, He sat at the right hand of the Father as a man cf Ps 110:1,2

V4 Yeshua, although a man, is above all angels in authority, despite fallen mankind being of lower intellect and power than angels. One day when we are no longer in this corruptible body and have attained salvation, we also by inheritance as perfect men shall judge angels, as we would have attained pure holiness, as Yeshua the true, unblemished, perfect prototype of man cf 1 Cor 6:3. We strive on this earth to attain this inheritance which defines the purpose of our Christian walk i.e. to inherit salvation cf Acts 26:16-18; Eph 1:11,14,18; Col 1:12:3:24.

Yeshua lived as a perfect man on earth and in so doing inherited the riches appointed to Him by Elohim the Father. After justification by faith, and sanctification by the Holy Spirit, we are adjured to renew our minds. This is an act of self-discipline which is not supernaturally imbued in us but rather actively achieved by us cooperating with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. A renewed mind is then capable of ruling over the flesh, to avoid being misled of its lusts thereof cf Rom 12:2; 2 Cor 4:16; Eph 4:23. By so doing one is capable of living a blameless life and hence becomes eligible for inheritance unto salvation and the promises that come with it.

V5 cf Ps 2:7; 2 Sam7:14. Although angels are referred to as sons of Elohim e.g. Gen 6:2; Job 1:6, Yeshua is the only begotten Son of Elohim, of which no other being is afforded such an appellation. We through faith in Yeshua are adopted sons of Elohim cf Eph 1:5 but are not the only begotten Son of Elohim either.

V6 cf Ps 97:7 Also note the LXX Deut 32:43 reads:

Rejoice, ye heavens, with him, and let all the angels of God worship him; rejoice ye Gentiles, with his people, and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him; for he will avenge the blood of his sons, and he will render vengeance, and recompense justice to his enemies, and will reward them that hate him; and the Lord shall purge the land of his people.

The Septuagint Bible was the Bible used in Yeshua’s time as the Greek translation of the Tanakh. This irrefutably destroys any argument against the deity of Yeshua and also any argument against the triune Elohim-head, loosely referred to as the trinity as only YHVH may be worshipped. If Yeshua is worthy of even angelic worship then He is clearly YHVH in the form of the Son. It is interesting to note an often unknown or overlooked fact that the Torah was given on Mt Sinai by Yeshua Himself, being ordained by the angels cf Ps 68:17; Acts 7:53 and Gal 3:19.

V7 cf Ps 104:4 Minsters is ‘sharath’ in Hebrew in Psalms and leitourgos in Greek in Hebrews, both meaning servants. Ministers in our current parlance are deemed those who rule over the laity be it in government or in the churches. The biblical meaning is the exact opposite. Ministers are to serve the ecclesia, just as angels serve Elohim.

V8-9 cf Ps 45:6-7. In stark contrast to the angels, who are servants, Yeshua is a King for all eternity. Not only that, but Yeshua is also Elohim i.e. worthy of worship and praise. V9 is a hallmark in scripture as it unabashedly states that Yeshua loves dikaiosune/righteousness and hates anomia/iniquity, transgression of the law. Cf Deut 6:25 clarifies this statement.

Being anointed with the oil of gladness means the joy in the Holy Spirit cf Rom 14:17. Only that which was considered most holy and of men being restricted to the High Priest was anointed with this special oil cf Ex 30:25-33. Yeshua is the only eternal High Priest of the order of Melchizedek, of which none of the angels were afforded this privilege.

V10 cf Ps 102:25 The KJV uses the word Lord, and those who do not believe that Yeshua is YHVH, use the English translation to reduce the title to that of a master. However, the Holy Spirit always brings great illumination to scripture when one makes an effort to seek truth as promised in Pro 25:2. When Ps 102:25 is read in the correct context, in the original Hebrew the rendering of Lord is none other than YHVH! Yeshua is YHVH the Son and part of the TRIUNE Elohim-head. He is far above the angels indeed for the very facts that He is an eternal King of righteousness, He created all things including the angels, and He also is YHVH Elohim, who is to be worshipped. Cf Zech 12:1; Jer 32:17 for further proof that Lord here refers to YHVH not Adonai.

V11-12 cf Ps 102:26-27, 2 Pet 3:10. The book of Revelation portrays sequentially the events described here, a new heaven and earth being created in chapters 21-22. It is essential for the current heaven and earth to perish as it has been corrupted by evil. We shall delve into this at greater length in our study of the Revelation of Yeshua the Messiah to the Apostle John.

V13 cf Ps 110:1. Note in this Psalm that David refers to the Father as YHVH and to the Son as Adonai for the sake of differentiating the two, despite the fact that throughout the Psalms he refers to Yeshua as YHVH too. The angels stand and serve YHVH, but Yeshua sits and rules with YHVH further differentiating Yeshua from the angels in stature. 1 Cor 15:23-28 outlines the sequence of events leading up to Yeshua making His enemies His footstool.

V14 The role of angels is partly to serve us who call upon the name of Yehovah and believe in His Son Yeshua the Messiah, unto our justification, redemption and sanctification awaiting our inheritance unto salvation. Examples of the service of angels upon Yehovah’s redeemed are found in Ps 34:7; Dan 6:22; Acts 5:19-20; Acts 10:3-6; Luke 16:22; Acts 12:7; Lk 1:19.

It is imperative to note that not everybody has angels sent forth to minister unto them, but strictly those who have chosen Yeshua as their Messiah and have persevered in keeping His commandments.
