Eye Injuries
Remember To Send for Help – Call an Ambulance
Note
If there is an object imbedded in the eye Do Not Try to Remove It.
Signs and Symptoms
- Pain and irritation
- Swelling around the eye
- Eye watering
- Blood in the white of the eye
Treatment

Chemical Burns
- DRSABCD
- Keep eye open to stop the chemical being trapped inside
- Flush the eye with clean water for 20 minutes
- Place a clean, light dressing over the eye
- Seek medical help
Foreign Objects Embedded
- DRSABCD
- Cover the eye with a shield so you can leave the object in place and have no pressure on it. (The base of a paper cup or similar works well)
- Bandage everything in place making sure there is NO PRESSURE on the eye
- Seek professional medical care
