Joseph Dillard was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a B.A. in Economics. Joseph has been in the financial services industry for over 30 years. He began his banking career in Chicago as a Credit Analyst in Commercial Lending then switched to Retail Banking Management, where he served the community for over 15 years. Joseph also has the following licenses: Series 6, Series 63, and Life Insurance. His experience in Banking and involvement in the community lead Joseph to become very passionate about Financial Education. Joseph realized that many people, especially people of color, had not been taught how to manage their money. They were racking up NSF fees and being declined for consumer and business loans at a high rate. As a result of working with Joseph individuals learn how to set up and manage a personal budget, reduce debt, increase savings, and understand banking and investment products. Joseph wants individuals to learn how to take advantage of the financial services industry instead of being taken advantage of by that industry. Joseph has appeared on local radio and television shows in Minneapolis/St. Paul as a guest to talk about Personal Finance. He was also a panelist for Sister Spokesman, a forum for African-American Women in Minneapolis/St. Paul, in a discussion about Personal Finance. Joseph has been doing seminars and workshops for churches, non-profit organizations, and student groups in Minnesota, Iowa, and Georgia for over 20 years. In 2009 Joseph founded “Activate the Dream through Financial Education”, an annual seminar held on MLK Day to teach Financial Education. Joseph has been married to Ann Dillard for 31 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.
