Back in the spotlight
forgotten in the darkness of restrictions
theater is familiar
like an old friend
we get tired of
but who knows us too well for us to let go
and when the camera is there
the lines we’ve learned
or haven’t
are obvious to all
and when casual fans turn off the TV
we are only left with the friends
who see us as we are
not the character we were pretending to be
reality is a mess of failure and mistakes
and the occasional good idea
that is more of a happy accident
than a work of genius
the poster can be airbrushed
and makeup can hide the scars
and management can sell the show
but is God more interested in who we are
than who we are pretending to be
we can have a good act going
but who are we really
