27. No Wilderness to Tame

For a long while, I went screaming,
Helen Keller-style against
all the Annie Sullivans
Attempting to put me
in my proper place.
But this wild soul was no
wilderness to tame.
No barren land
For any hand to conquer.
And what a giggle it gives me,
Sitting weary old-lady-like
in the life I never thought
I’d live.
And what pleasure it thrills me,
To bow my head to the only One
Who could break a wild soul
For the sake of breaking
What was His.
