A REBELLIOUS SON
It’s all
Okay
When we
Get to Jesus,
Like the suffering
From a million
Pages before
Is ironed out
And gently
Spread against
Our bed.
And as we thumb
Through the earrings
And the bracelets
And maybe find a
Lipstick that matches
The shade,
We unconsciously
Braid the lesson
Like loose hair,
Knowing God
Only to not know
Him
Because we
Convince ourselves
It’s just easier this
Way.
