I’m Not Sure

They’re not sure if I knew

If we knew

We sure weren’t ever revealing it

Sadly....

We always wanted to be someone

Someone that could live

And not have ourselves

Held down by chains

I’m sure one day

The chains will break

And we will be able

To walk freely

Towards the light

At the end of the garden

In our backyards

Our backyards

Surround us....

A disagreeable

And rainy night, slowly turning

We see lightning above the homes

Stormy

We run up over our house

Towards the lightning

Dodging the antennas

As we do

The land lies under us

Simply a giant space of fields,

Houses,

Rain,

Rainstorm

A mailbox in the distance,

Lightning

Our heaven

We had been searching for

Is overlooking us

Can we ever claim it for ourselves?

When did we ever begin desperately

Wanting it for ourselves?

I’m just afraid

That the pressure

We put on us before

Could help us reach it....

ONE DAY....
