Waves at Midnight

At midnight

The waves pour over

What is disguised as the world

At midnight,

The waves consume everything

As she walks barefoot

Along the beach,

The water is blue and gray

The wind is slight,

Blowing her dress barely

The moon overhead

Has no star

In the sky

And she walks

So far

That no one behind

Can see her

The ocean gets closer

Just darkness

Is on the horizon

The waves cover her

And drag her out to sea,

Into the night....
