You can't just sit down and write poetry;
it comes and it goes and you have to be fast.

You have to be patient with poetry;
it's a child with a will and it's not like the rest.

You can't learn the skills to write poetry;
you suffer and sweat and seduce and detest.

And nobody really likes poetry;
it's murder and action and sex we like best.

So why do I try to write poetry?
