TO POSEIDON

Roar, Poseidon, roar.
With thy swift horses draw
The ocean shoreward.
Dash thy white horses.
Let them crash their foam
And lash
Against black rocks,
Surging water and white foam.
Drive them home.
Make them come,
Curling up the cays and bays,
Frothing up in sprays,
Hurling waves upon the land,
Crashing on the sand,
Returning to the deep,
Treacherous tides creeping,

Swirling round my feet.
