Only a Child

There is a spirit of laughter
that only a child can have,
It bubbles onto their face
and puffs into their cheeks;
Then it escapes their lips
as the most cheerful sound you can ever hear,
It is something that most adults seek.

There is a spirit of adventure
that only a child can experience,
Their world is an oyster;
their journey has just begun,
Their eyes explore and explode as they look about engulfing it all at once,
Almost getting overwhelmed by all the fun.

There is a longing and giving of love
that only a child can give,
It’s purity, and simplicity is hard to regain once lost;
But if you love life, and laughter and adventure
and you stir them into your day,
You can find where your child lives within.
