Born in South Kyongsang Province, Mun Toksu is a representative Korean modernist poet. He began his literary career in 1955 with a series of poems that reflected his personal experience of the Korean War. In the 1970s his poems revealed a critical attitude to the cultural dimensions of urbanization. Recently, his poems focus on ecology and a world where man and nature are in harmony.
