Yes, I've been there and back.

That means making a lot of tracks.

Did get to hit some high spots.

And low ones,

lots and lots.

It was a bad trip.

I would have surrendered,

Would have gone over,

but thought of you kept me

this side of the border.

It was a lonely trip.

Gained some friends,

lost a few.

Almost forgot -

made some enemies too.

It was a hell of a trip.

A lot of memories,

a lot of miles.

Lots of tears,

and lots of smiles.

But I wouldn't do it again.

Today I'm scared

To turn back and see.

Somebody back there

Might be following me.

Oh, yes, it could even be worse.

That somebody

Might be gaining on me.
