The Storm

Way out on the edge of town

I watched the evening sun go down

and then I felt a pitter-patter;

raindrops! But it didn't matter.

Very soon I heard the sound

of rain splish-splashing on the ground

So I, as the sky grew darker,

pulled the hood up on my parka.

A women in an evening gown

hurried past me with a frown

and folk were running helter-skelter

looking for some form of shelter.

Then the rain began to pound

forming puddles on the ground

thunder crish-crashed everywhere;

lightning flashed and rent the air.

Now it's true I wasn't bound

to stand there getting almost drowned

but I find storms exhilarating;

and gave that one a "tip-top" rating!
