The Many Voices of the Works of Love
The works of love speak with many voices
And divinely they are wrought
Each of these speaks of many choices
To find the life that we have sought
All these choices come in multiples
Still there's one essential path
For love itself there is no double
And love is the essential task
To love our neighbor as ourselves
Cannot come as a repetition
When we love where the soul does dwell
Each one is a unique rendition
All true love bears a similarity
Because of its divine connection
The paradox and its familiarity
Each act of love is its own invention
Although we love all of our neighbors
We do not love them all the same
In love we can their diversity savor
And call each by their own name
It's distinction that breeds hierarchy
Which will shatter the moral sphere
In diversity we can reach equality
And remove much of what we fear
It takes some vision to love in truth
Which solely comes from the middle term
It's what we share in its universal root
The sacred lesson through love we learn
