(290-291) Works of Love VI
Love Abides—It never wastes away
Sacred love abides because it maintains no past
The eternal is now and forever
That is why such love will always last
It remembers not past failed endeavors
No matter how long the separation
When some other is lost in the love erotic
Sacred love abides for reconciliation
Such love forgives and is not quixotic
Clock time makes for a kind of faithlessness
No matter how we strive to be faithful
For in time duration will cause distress
A condition we know as fateful
Time can often breed impatience
Worse still a loss of acceptance
We perceive this loss with annoyance
And become faithless in our distance
For faith must come when we believe
That our love will discover continuity
So love abides and need not grieve
When we feel the middle term in unity
The middle term our love secures
In the connection that is sacred
So that love will always endure
Its faith can't be outdated
Love abides and admits no change
It never responds to haste
Such love never feels estranged
Love abides and won't submit to waste
