suggest that the soul will ultimately be like God and transcend both time and space.
The religious understanding of soul might suggest that there is a ‘world soul’ of some sort — of which, individual souls form a part. Or — along similar lines — it might be said that a ‘consciousness’ of some kind — be it spirit, soul or mind — pervades all of matter. We might be happy to call this ’God’, or just ‘the universe’. But God then seems reduced to an abstraction — a Universal Spirit. Such a view might provide us with further explanations of the world.
