I Grew Up Selling My Paintings

Part 1

Indeed, my parents consistently supported me in every possible way.

So, I have no grievances against them, but should they have assisted at all times during my upbringing?

Certainly not.

During my Youth, I had to sell the paintings I drew to earn at least a little something.

That’s correct!

To earn some money, there were numerous individuals who frequently purchased my paintings and commissioned me to create pieces for them. Are you interested in knowing the name I gave to those individuals who consistently purchased my oil paintings? I referred to those individuals as clients! Indeed!

Calling them clients was the appropriate term! But to facilitate this venture, I utilized a room, like an empty warehouse, that my parents had behind our home to store all the drawings and paintings that my clients would come to buy. Yes! I had a substantial number of clients, which contributed to my emergence as a somewhat recognized Painter.

Thus, in the warehouse, I spent some of my time drawing to sell my art for income.

So, I began my journey of selling paintings at the age of 10 and continued until I turned 20.

Growing up selling my paintings, I was not just 6 years old; I began at 10. But right after 16 years of age, I was considered a young Adult at that age, and my parents were aware of this, granting me the freedom to make my own choices, albeit wise ones. Although my parents were unaware of the painting business I operated in that small room, I always tried to avoid being caught by them to prevent trouble.

However, inevitably, one day, they caught me and it was quite funny too.

One thing to know is that my parents frequently noticed the paintings in the warehouse that they had no use for, yet they were never certain if those pieces were available for purchase. Soon, I had no option but to be truthful with them on the day they found out why the paintings were there.
