gaze wasn’t on her face and hair. It wasn’t until I was in the passenger’s seat and I could see her gams that I was certain.

I guess my mental state of a drowsy, ringing confusion, coupled with my plodding, yet tipsy gait made me think that I’d never be able to get away on my own. She said that we were going to the hunting cabin. I didn’t know what that exactly meant, but it sounded as if my immediate wishes had been fulfilled. I was getting out of town.

I must have nodded off for a while, as the next thing I saw didn’t look anything like home.
