I stumbled upon a film called The Pulitzer at 100 and it solidified my feeling that some authors pen entire novels just so they can write the “About the Author” at the end. As an aside, I want to fight for legislation making it legal to slap poets who appear on camera to discuss their work. While I appreciate the efforts of the letters s, m, u, and g, it would take a word much longer to capture the look on the faces of the people talking about themselves in this flick. Why does writing involve such pretension?
Who cares about the author? The person who writes something is completely irrelevant. Even the story they write is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what happens in the reader’s head when they read the story.
What would be interesting would be an “About the Reader” section where you tell me what series of unfortunate events led you to reading this book.
