But with independence came peril.
The Underwear Drawer, stung by Argyle's rejection and emboldened by its own chaotic charisma, began sending emissaries; seductive briefs, whispering promises of merger and mutual laundering. Some socks defected. Others were tempted.
Then came the Dryer Incident.
A rogue spin cycle scattered the Sock Drawer's population, separating pairs and sowing panic. Argyle, caught in the vortex, emerged alone; his partner, Midcalf, missing. The trauma reignited old fears. Was the Dryer a weapon? A tool of suppression?
Argyle launched an inquiry. The Dryer, silent and inscrutable, offered no answers. But whispers spread of a hidden realm; the Lost Sock Dimension, a lint filled purgatory where unmatched socks wandered in search of closure.
Fueled by grief and resolve, Argyle vowed to find Midcalf. He would journey beyond the drawer, past the hamper, through the treacherous folds of the fitted sheet, and into the heart of the laundry labyrinth.
