"When the mirror broke... I heard something."

"What?"

"A name. They whispered a name before they left."

"What name?"

The static rose again, buzzing on the line.

" Ibrahim, " Yasmin whispered.

Amal froze. The blood drained from her face.

"What did you say?"

"Ibrahim. Who is Ibrahim?"

Amal looked at the sleeping form of her husband. She looked at the closed door of her daughter’s room.

"My grandfather," Amal whispered into the dark. "The one who disappeared in '48."

"Why do they know his name?"

"Because," Amal said, clutching the iron key under her pillow until it bit into her palm. "Because they didn't just eat him. They kept him."

She hung up the phone.

The silence of the room rushed back in, filling the void left by Yasmin's voice. But now, the silence wasn't empty. It was listening.

And somewhere in the dark, Amal knew that the game had changed. They weren't just hunting random victims anymore.

They were hunting her family tree.

She didn't mean to close her eyes.

She meant to stay awake, to guard the door, to watch the mirror. But the exhaustion wasn't just physical; it was soul-deep. It was a gravity she couldn't fight.

One moment, she was staring at the ceiling fan, watching the blades cut through the stagnant air.
