Chapter 48
Touching the gas pedal, Caspian began the relatively short drive along the dirt road, and before long he stopped at the edge of a small pond. It seemed like the perfect place to camp. The only difference was that he would not be sleeping in his car. After purchasing a small four-season tent and a sleeping bag, Caspian seemed adequately outfitted for camping in any weather, even the winter. However, he was uncertain as to his destination and felt he would always be running from anyone who might recognize him. As for taking people’s lives, he was beginning to wonder if he could stop and how. After setting up camp, he sat near the edge of the pond and considered his situation. How would this end? He had not heard the voice in his head for about a day and wondered if his illness might simply disappear, giving him a sense of freedom he had never known.
