Six years ago today
A major alteration underway
Life would forever change
And circumstances rearrange
Everything about my life
For a while causing major strife
It was a left leg amputation
Not a good situation
Didn’t know if I could cope
But never gave up hope
The first couple years were rough
In fact, really tough
Looking at my life today
It took me in a different way
I learned how to appreciate
What I did previously deprecate
Don’t know how life would have been
Had it not happened
But I am where I am today
Because of what I’ve encountered along the way
