Many people feel sorry for those with acne problems. Social rejection by those who have a poor complexion is the worst. The fact that we can do nothing to prevent it is the worst part. Others suffer from indirect consequences of acne that can follow a person for the rest of their life.
This important problem receives a decent amount of time for learning and solving this problem. Various ways are proposed to clear acne, some more worthwhile than the others. These cures go anywhere from spreading mixtures of organic potions on your skin to zapping the skin with ultrasonic technology.
Acne is a form of inflammation that begins deep in the dermal layer that attracts various immune competent cells to make pain, redness, swelling, and pus to appear. Unfortunately, we don't know what causes this inflammation. Puberty, with the entire hormonal imbalance is a factor in why acne outbreaks occur. Dirt and oil that gets to your face and absorbs into your pillow is another factor. Foods high in oil are another thing to consider.

Even though we have no answers to the problem the search for answers is still going strong. In my opinion you should find a doctor and figure out the methods that will be the most effective for your strain of acne. They are the best spot to start due to their training and information.
Whiteheads are defined as a clogged hair follicle with dead cells and excess oil in them. The appearance of a whitehead is a small pick or white bump that does not break the surface.
There are many varieties of acne that affect the skin in different ways. Each different type of acne has a different type of treatments. Whiteheads are not exposed to oxygen however blackheads are exposed.

Understanding what acne is, what it does, and the different kinds can help you prevent it.
All types of acne develop in the same way, however they can affect people differently and have different appearances. Follicles become clogged creating a comedo, which is called acne. When the hair follicles become blocked with dead cells and oil they form a comedo that becomes inflamed and discolored. The different kinds of acne have different types of treatment plans.
A closed comedo, commonly know as a whitehead is a non-inflammatory type of acne. Whiteheads are small bumps that develop under the skin from blocked hair follicles. They do not break the surface.
If the comedo breaks the surface ii is a blackhead. These are inflamed and have discoloration, also known as an open comedo. Melanin is what caused the discoloration not dirt. Another name for an inflammatory type of acne is a blackhead.
Papules are firm, pink bumps, and small. They are the mildest type of inflammatory acne and show up on the surface. Often papules are sore and tender. They are considered the first step toward inflammatory acne from non-inflammatory.
Pustules are round lesions that are similar to a papule. Pustules are visibly, clearly inflamed, and filled with pus. This is where they differ from papules. Pustules will have a white or yellow filled center that appears red in color. There may be very little bacteria in a pustule, what pus is there is from the excess sebum, dead cells and irritation.
A very painful form of acne is cysts or nodular. Nodules are deep in the tissue of the skin, which are inflamed and contain pus. When the comedo ruptures the surround skin and tissues become infected, the body's defense mechanism reacts and produces pus. The worse form of acne will last for weeks or months, hardening and becoming a cyst. Cysts and nodules will leave deep scars on the body.
Acne conglobata develops on the chest, buttocks, and back, it is an inflammatory acne and extremely rare. The symptoms are pustules, cysts, and nodules with sever infection from bacteria.
Topical cosmetic can cause mild forms of cosmetic acne. Local infection will occur with small red bumps on the body where the cosmetics were applied. The symptoms may take several weeks to develop but generally do not create scars. If you do not eliminate the cause of the inflammation it will persist until the product is discover and use is stopped.
Understanding the type of acne is the only way to find a treatment.

Because of the huge numbers of acne sufferers in the world no wonder why people are always looking for a cure. Yes, there are some known connections between hormones and acne and how to prevent it; but it still carries a mystery about what else can actually cause it. Even the scientific community agrees to disagree that the jury is still out on whether acne is affected by diet.
Heretofore that has been the consensus. The basis for the argument is an oily complexion creates acne and that the reason for that oily complexion is a diet high in fat.
There is no basis nowadays that shows any link in between acne and lipids or fat. Science says that extra oil secretion does not exist; and what cause that result are bacteria growing in a pore clogged with sebum. We've listened to western medicine tout no link between acne and diet!
Then in the 90's a new study started it all over again now saying that diet does cause acne.
This study states that the body does not have enough Coenzyme A that breaks down fatty acids to create sebum and that this is why acne exists. They believe this is the most required enzyme the body needs. Fatty acids broken down by this enzyme as well as it synthesizing sex hormones.}
Vitamin B5 is the only part of this enzyme the body doesn't produce. So no B5 = no Coenzyme-A or vice versa or at least shortage of them. A shortage of Coenzyme-A will not break down fatty acids it will synthesize sex hormones.
Pretty obvious, huh? More fatty acids = more sebum = more acne.}
100 people were involved in a study. Each used a B5 topical cream of 20% by weight and took 10 grams or more of pantothenic acid (B5) per day. Many people noted a reduction in acne within 2-3 days and sebum production was reduced. A higher dose of B5 was prescribed for those who had more severe acne 15-20 grams per day), |and treatment prolonged up to six months to see the effect.}
While the study doesn't prove definitively that acne is reduced or prevented, if you are looking for a more natural approach it might be something to try.
Discuss the possibility of a B5 treatment plan with your physician before trying it.

Removing scars is expensive. Usually, multiple treatments are required to effectively reduce the long-term results of acne; of course this is dependent on how severe the acne was and the amount of scarring. Some companies refer to removing acne scarring as cosmetic rather than necessary and make approval to proceed difficult. You should expect a response with 30 days upon submitting to your insurance company. The company will reply with a denial or an acception; it may come to you or the physician.
In the event it is denied you may still have other options. The hospital might have a payment structure to assist in covering the cost of the surgery if your situation warrants laser surgery. Many of us tend to try something "new" when it is recommended by a friend or we're reacting to an advertisement that catches our eye. You would be far ahead to make an appointment and talk to your doctor; he or she can advise you on what will work for your best results.
We come in all sizes and shapes and no two of us is alike; it stands to reason then that one medication may not be the right one for all of us. Your acne could differ greatly from that of a friend. A basic understanding of the ingredients contained in acne medications will allow you to make better decisions about how to treat your acne.
One of the popular ingredients in acne treatments is benzoyl peroxide. It fights acne with two-fisted action and is found in creams and gels. It treats bacteria on top of the skin where pimples are formed. It also removes oils and dead skin cells from it. Black heads and white heads are created when the dead cells mix with sebum and block the pores.
Existing lesions can be safely treated with benzoyl peroxide. Used on skin that is clear it can prevent acne-causing bacteria from developing. If it tends to dry the skin you can control it by applying less. It will also bleach hair and clothing so take care using it.
Another ingredient in treatments is salicylic acid. It gets rid of the dead skin cells that block pores. Products containing salicylic acid should be used on clear skin to stop the acne from returning. Some people report drying and skin irritation.
Sulfur and resorcinol are also common ingredients. Rescorcinol removes the top layer of skin and in doing so removes dead cells before they plug pores. No one knows how it works but sulfur is another thing that is used for acne treatment and has been for over fifty years with good results. Of these ingredients, benzoyl peroxide is the best option with the most versatility. It is used in creams, gels, lotions and soaps safely. Use these products directly on the pimples and surrounding skin several times a day.

Some believe that putting moisturizer on oily skin makes it worse. This isn't true or false but dependent on what kind of moisture it is. Oily skin can't handle lotions for dry skin, as they will have that greasy look. For oily skin there are quite a few light and airy oil-free choices available.
One oil-free lotion that contains salicylic acid, which prevents and treats acne, is called Clean and Clear. It moisturizes skin as well as fighting acne without causing additional problems. Use it after treating pimples with benzoyl peroxide cream that could create dry patches. This is a good lotion if you use a retinol product for your acne. You will need to use a year round sunscreen as this product does not contain one. Renergie Oil-Free Lotion from Lancomeis a good high end product. It hydrates and plumps fine lines, is okay for night or day use yet it is totally free of oil. ReVive Sensitif Oil Free Lotion is another one to think about. It is shine free and leaves a matte finish. It contains the natural protein molecule EGF. It carries a SPF 15 but is not for the faint-hearted at almost $200.
Jojoba oil is one of the least expensive lotions for oily skin. The Desert Essence label sells various size bottles at reasonable prices. It is a good cleanser for oily skin, cleanses away dirt and makeup and assists in regulating sebum production. Finish with a thorough rinse after massing into dry skin with wet warm water. Usually we don't think of putting oil on oily skin but in this situation it's okay. Rub in a little jojoba oil to take care of dry patches as well if you have them.
Believe it or not use this as a good hair treatment and after-shave.
#11. Zit! Don't Pop It
Acne, which is commonly call zits and/or pimples by teenager, can cause tremendous damage to the body and can be very painful. The severest type of acne is a cysts or nodules which are very painful and will scar.
When you try a pop or squeeze a pimple you are damaging the tissue surrounding it and push the bacteria on to the surface tissue as well as deeper into the tissue. The squeezing also damages the hair follicle. By exposing the surface and deeper tissues, you infect other pores. Squeezing will cause swelling of the surrounding skin. Many manufacture produce blackhead removers. They advertise them on TV, on the Internet, and in print ad's, even though scientific studies show that you should not remove blackheads. If a blackhead is not squeezed the skin will not become inflamed.
Whiteheads are more damaged when popped or squeezed. Whiteheads are very small and may only be felt on the skin as a roughness, these are also called sandpaper comodones. Whiteheads quickly become inflamed and develop into papule and/or pustule.
Dermatologist should treat whitehead once they naturally develop in to papules and/or pustules. When the inflammatory type of pimples are irritated acne can become sever and damaging. Whiteheads have little content in them but can become very inflamed and an eye sore by simple squeezing. Your dermatologist can determine the best treatment for your acne. They will decide the treatment plan with medicines as needed. This could include soaps, cleaning methods, diet, and medication.
#12. Cystic Acne
A more advanced pimple is called cystic acne. Acne is fairly common amongst all people around the world, however a more severe type is called cystic acne.
A regular pustule (pimple) roots itself deep into the skin becoming a cyst. Cysts can be large and purple, or pink and small. Many cysts in the facial area and elsewhere throughout the body erupt in severe cases.
Heredity is thought to play a large role in cystic acne. You are likely to acquire a form of cystic acne if you have a parent who has or had it. While it can appear anywhere on the body it seems to do more damage on the face. You can have it on the back, legs, shoulders, neck and check. Clothing can cover these cysts but if clothing is too tight it can irritate the area and actually cause more of these painful eruptions to appear. Loose clothing is the best apparel with body acne.
Cystic acne is painful and undergoing a bout of it is extremely uncomfortable. Isotretinoin is the medication most effective for cystic acne. It is a concentrated form of Vitamin A and is found in a drug called Accutane. Accutane must be used only as a final alternative because it has serious side effects. It was found to cause birth defects and miscarriages in pregnant women. A woman must prevent conception with two types of birth control when Accutane is prescribed.
You might want to ask for something a little less strong if you are a woman. A product that contains high levels of benzoyl peroxide might be better suited because it is safe for pregnant women. It can't hurt to try what you can before seeing a doctor; consulting with a physician is expensive. You might discover that an over the counter treatment is much cheaper than the doctor visit and works as well.
Cystic acne can be treated successfully. You just have to keep trying different treatments until you find one that works for you. If you can afford one, see a good dermatologist.

Medical professionals and acne-pestered adolescents have no doubts about the effectiveness of the severe acne drug isotretinoin. It's the looming possibility of side effects such as depression and fetal damage that makes people uneasy when considering using this medication.
Accutane (isotretinoin) is one of Hoffman-LaRoche's most popular and controversial pharmaceuticals. This week, a study published in the Archives of Dermatology vindicated isotretinoin from causing depression. In this report, Christina Y. Chia, MD, from Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center, St. Louis, and colleagues examined whether patients with moderate to severe acne treated with isotretinoin experienced an increase in depressive symptoms compared with patients treated with a topical antibiotic, topical retinoid, and an oral antibiotic.
Dr. Chia found that "The use of isotretinoin in the treatment of moderate-severe acne in adolescents did not increase depressive symptoms. On the contrary, our study shows that treatment of acne improves depressive symptoms".
Five years earlier, in 2000, the isotretinoin-depression link still appeared misleading. That time, the Archives of Dermatology posted study, headed by Dr. Susan S. Jick, from the Boston University School of Medicine, which found no evidence that isotretinoin increases the risk for depression, suicide, or other psychiatric disorders.
Even though isotretinoin finds ample support among dermatologists and psychiatrists, a host of parents, politicians and medical professionals hail isotretinoin as a medical misfortune. For instance, Dr. David J. Graham, the Associate Director for Science and Medicine in FDA's Office of Drug Safety, recently warned that Accutane should be taken off the market.
And while there are few studies with any negative observations about isotretinoin, Dr. Douglas Bremner's research at of the Emory University School of Medicine has linked isotretinoin treatment with changes in brain function. At the conclusion of this study, published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, Dr. Bremner concurred with Dr. Graham's view that isotretinoin proves too dangerous for human use.
Dr. Bremner explains that to invoke depression, isotretinoin must influence the brain. During the investigation, brain function of the subjects was measured using positron emission tomography (PET) before and after four months of treatment with isotretinoin. Isotretinoin treatment was associated with decreased brain metabolism in the orbitofrontal cortex- the area of the brain known to mediate symptoms of depression. Yet, there were no differences in severity of depressive symptoms between the isotretinoin and antibiotic treatment groups before or after treatment.
The pessimistic effects of isotretinoin also caught the attention of Diane K. Wysowski PhD. Dr. Wysowski noted that in June 2000, isotretinoin ranked among the top 10 drugs linked to depression and suicide attempts in the FDA's Adverse Event Reporting System database. In 2001, Dr. Wysowski examined isotretinoin's depression inducing potential and posted her findings in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Wysowski concluded that more studies of isotretinoin are needed. She also advised patients and their parents to immediately report mood swings and symptoms that are suggestive of depression such as sadness, crying, loss of appetite, unusual fatigue, withdrawal, and inability to concentrate to their prescribing physician. These protective measures can avoid more serious side effects and permit appropriate treatment, including consideration of drug discontinuation and referral for psychiatric care.
While dissension among researchers still exists about whether or not isotretinoin causes depression, one idea most of them can agree on is that more research on the side effects of isotretinoin are desirable. If you are not in the mood for being an isotretinoin guinea pig, Geoffrey Redmond MD, author of The Good News about Women's Hormones, suggests using hormone therapy and/or using Retin-A if isotretinoin seems too chancy for you.

#29. Change The Way You Think
Your thoughts have a lot to do with why you have acne. Most people will not even give this idea a single thought. You can get rid of acne without changing your way of thinking, but your thoughts will create some other illness that you might not see.
Most illnesses begin with the way you think, the way you are, or your basic philosophy. Your thoughts create chemicals that flow into your blood and affect the function of your entire body.

Accept yourself as you are and get on with the purpose of your life. Just get on with it. Don't worry about what other people are thinking and doing. That's their problem not yours.
You need to learn how to "face yourself." When you have acne you may not want to look at yourself and "face who you are?"
If you have acne, there is always some underlying emotions and feelings that are being expressed by your acne. Look into yourself and try to see what you are saying with your acne.
If you cannot find it, see if you can relate it to constipation. Constipation and a toxic colon is typically the cause of acne. But to go one-step further, all physical illness are created by some emotional unbalance that you are holding onto.
Acne can be a representation of repressed traumas that you have experienced as a child when you were growing up. I know you may not want to hear this. But, Acne can be an expression of those traumas trying to burst out of the repressive mechanisms that your body creates to prevent you from facing these traumas until you are ready to do so.
Some effort has to be make to connect and release these traumas, otherwise as you clear your face these traumas can move to some other parts of your body where they will be unseen and destroy tissue and body functions.
If you have a negative thought, ask yourself this question, "does this thought or idea help me or others become a better person?" If not, then let go of this thought and move on to a better thought and a better place in your life.

Day before the fast
The day before the fast, eat a large salad and two apples. This will give you plenty of fiber to scrub the walls of your colon as you move fecal matter out of your colon the following day.
First day of colon cleanse
Do this cleanse on a Saturday, Sunday or any other day that you don't have to go anywhere. You will be going to the bathroom all day and at times you need to be there quick.

#33. Foods To Stop Eating
Even though many dermatologist and doctors don't see the connection between your diet, constipation, a toxic colon, and a toxic liver with the acne that you are suffering from, it does not mean the food you eat is not important in clearing your acne.

In my experience, diet has everything to do with acne. Not only did I fix my own bad skin through correct eating but I have seen among my students a number of severe cases ? the large purplish kind of acne on cheeks and chins ? completely cured within three months by a change of diet."
Foods to Stop Eating
If you smoke, drink alcohol or drink coffee, then this program will not work too well for you. When you have these addictions, your body's minerals and vitamins will be out of balance and it will be difficult for you to achieve any state of good health.
So, here are they foods that you need to stop eating. You don't need to stop eating these foods instantly. Not many people can do this. You need to do this gradually. I know it will be hard to stop eating some of these foods that you have enjoyed, over the years, but you have to ask yourself the question,
Which do I want to be ?Acne free or a junk food addict?
The choice is yours and I know you will make the right decision so here is the list,

* Fried Fatty foods ? fried foods, butter, chesses, beef
* Foods in packages ? All foods in packages or boxes are junk food. They are considered dead food and provide no life force to your body. They take from you because they use up minerals, vitamins, and digestive enzymes during digestion. They contain no fiber so they cause constipation.
