Chapter 18B: Choosing an Orthodontist or Practice
Whether you're starting with a first evaluation or moving into comprehensive treatment, a few practical factors are worth considering beyond simply the nearest or most convenient clinic.
Credentials to Look For
Practical Questions to Ask Before Committing
Trusting Your Own Judgment
Beyond checklists and credentials, it's worth paying attention to simpler signals: does the practice answer your questions clearly and patiently, without rushing you toward a decision? Does your child feel reasonably comfortable there, given that they'll be visiting repeatedly over months or years? A second opinion is always a reasonable step if something about a recommendation doesn't sit right with you, and no reputable orthodontist should discourage you from seeking one.
