PART FIVE: IN GOD WE TRUST
"The ground I am on is holy ground.
The ground I am on is successful ground."
Florence Scovel Shinn
Whatever your religious beliefs or lack of them, you can tap into a higher power, whether you call that force God, Nature, Spirit, the Super Conscious Mind, the Christ Consciousness, the universal creative energy, or whatever feels comfortable to you. The word "Good" encompasses the Spirit of God and is readily understood by most people to be beneficial and loving without carrying the taint of religious dogma.
The Pledge of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the republic for which it stands,
one nation, under God, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.
E Pluribus Unum
E Pluribus Unum is the motto of the United States of America. Latin for "out of many, one" it signifies the union of the thirteen original colonies into one nation instead of separate ones. The motto is carried by the American eagle on the Great Seal of the United States.
Since the motto was first proposed by the U.S. Continental Congress in 1782 for use on the seal, our country has grown and expanded far beyond the original thirteen stars on our nation's red, white and blue flag.
But how is E Pluribus Unum of value or interest today, so many years later? Does it have real meaning to anyone, other than being part of our currency and tradition? I think that it does. Progressives focus on finding ways to be of service for the greater good of all citizens, and not just a few. Out of the many, one.
Let's keep progressing and keep our sight on all the good we desire for ourselves and others. When we magnetize unity of purpose to our goals, the universe indeed conspires to bring about great miracles in unexpected ways.
The key is to not get divided into splintered factions over the issue of Trump's election. We must bravely carry on as Americans and find more unity in what we have in common with our fellow Americans, no matter who they voted for.
In his Farewell Address, President Obama said, referring to our nation's founders, "they knew that democracy does require a basic sense of solidarity — the idea that for all our outward differences, we're all in this together; that we rise or fall as one."
Relying on God's Assistance
Every child knows that U.S. dollars and coins carry the words "In God we trust"…but what does that mean today, when so many people are asking, "How could a loving God allow Donald Trump to be elected to the highest office in the land?" Many people feel abandoned by God at this time, and worry that only evil and suffering will come out of this situation.
When I was a child, the catechism I memorized in second grade asked me, "Who made us?" and my learned response was "God made us." Over the years, I delved into theology, philosophy, spirituality, New Thought and metaphysics. As I gained a fuller awareness of our eternal nature, and our timeless, unbreakable connection with each other, I came to believe in a benevolent Spirit of which we are all an important part.
I believe that the beauty of our universe is proof of the love and delight our Creator feels for us. And I believe that our power to co-create with Source is our greatest gift, and our least understood one. We inadvertently cast doubt and fear on our path and prevent our greater good from streaming into our lives.
"The Supreme Power of the Universe is the supplier of all things,
and the law of attraction is the distribution manager of those things.
You are a central point of creation on Earth, and it is through you
