22. VANQUISH VICTIMHOOD
Here's another area we learned from our race history: how to be a victim in a thousand ways.
Consider the life stories of Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela, and Mother (now Saint) Teresa. These 20th century world leaders taught us the value of non-violence as the underpinnings of a great change to help many millions of people find freedom from the double yoke of poverty and injustice.
Our victim stories are as varied as we are and would make great entertainment if they weren't so devastatingly sad. How is that we humans have gone through so many thousands of years of living all around this globe, thumbing our noses at our own power to co-create abundance and loving relationships with the Source from which we all came, and that we are all part of.
Here are some statements that I think are pretty common—see how easy it is to recognize the victim mentality once you know what to look for:
No matter how hard I try, I'll never get ahead.
I've got the worst luck of anyone I know—nothing ever goes my way.
I don't know why I even bother; it's never going to work out.
I've got some kind of crazy hex or curse on me that means I'll never find love.
All of these statements, and many thousands of a similar nature, are affirmations.
We say the phrases again and again, and drill down deep into our subconscious mind until the thought becomes a belief.
Once a belief takes root in the inner recesses of our powerful mind, the law of attraction begins gathering all the elements needed to bring that belief to life.
If you tell yourself again and again, "I'm clumsy and stupid," you will materialize the results of that. It is true, even though it might seem unfair. We get what we ask for and believe we are worthy of receiving.
The clue to changing our results is to amplify our worthiness, and to deliberately do much better in the asking department.
When we make the decision to no longer be victims, we shed an old skin that is dried up and worn out anyway. In our new, more empowered state, we can align with the power of the law of attraction and magnetize joy, creativity and love into our lives, and through us and our actions, into the world at large.
