18. RAISE YOUR OPINION OF YOURSELF
Most people, in my opinion, walk around with a very low evaluation of who they are.
We learn early on that it's wrong to boast or brag about our accomplishments, and of course our parents were trying to teach us to be polite and not become a show-off to the point of making others uncomfortable around us.
However, in the process of learning some manners, far too many of us absorbed the erroneous concept that we don't matter, that we're nothing special, that we're pretty darned ordinary in fact and the world would hardly miss us if we vanished inexplicably.
Did you know that the universe could not exist without you? You would leave a void so massive that life as we know it would not continue.
Are you familiar with the holiday classic film It's a Wonderful Life? In this movie, George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) encounters one disaster after another in the family business. In despair, certain the world would be better off if he had never been born, he contemplates suicide. However, in response to prayers from his family and friends, an angel-in-training named Clarence (Henry Travers) is sent from heaven to help George see what his town would be like if he had never existed.
In the movie, George soon sees the impact his day-to-day kindness and compassion had made in the town, because now there is darkness, despair and lack of love everywhere he turns. He begs to go back and rectify the situation.
Look at your own life and see how much good you do. You may not have a huge circle of friends, but you have interacted and affected many people in your lifetime, from early classmates and playmates up until today's coworkers, employees, neighbors and friends.
If you don't think you've made much impact of a positive nature, then ask to be inspired for ways that you can change that.
Understand that no matter what your list of accomplishments, the acts of the heart are always the most powerful ones. You're not a "big nothing" or a "total failure" and if you use language like that in your self-chat you are making matters worse with all that negativity.
Affirm: I am a beautiful eternal spirit, here in this earth-suit to grow in love and creativity and help others do the same. I am worthy of all I desire.
