
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup malt vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke, preferably natural
In medium saucepan, heat oil. Add onion, garlic, cumin and cayenne pepper and cook over medium heat 5 minutes.
Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Makes 2 cups.
