EPILOGUE
The journey they now took was of the greatest urgency. They had to reach the City of Arkam at the soonest possible time. But they knew it would take at least five days to get there. And in that time, much could have already happened, Beret thought.
Beret would have to speak to his captain to ask for an audience with the king. And even if he did gain permission, would the king listen? Beret wondered.
Even after the great eclipse was over, Misara still completed the Prayer of Banishment which led to the destruction of the Stone of Affliction. And yet as their journey progressed, Beret would often see her staring into nothingness for long periods. The guilt she must now feel for what she believes she had allowed to happen must be overwhelming, Beret thought. But he could not allow her to continue feeling this way. For it was because of him that Misara did what she had to do.
“We need to prevent Qorath from acquiring the Tome of Ascension,” Revik said.
Beret agreed. But they had to warn the king first that war would soon be upon them.
