Chapter 11: The Radiance of Hope Shines Bright The next morning, as the sun rose over Millwood City, Samuel in his usual spot on the roadside. He placed his old guitar on his lap and looked around. The city was waking up— workers rushing to their jobs, vendors setting up their stalls, children walking to school. But today felt different.
Last night, a thief had found salvation. And today, Samuel knew God would once again use his songs to touch another soul.
He strummed his guitar and let his voice rise above the city’s noise: "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me…
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see…"
As he sang, familiar faces gathered. The fruit vendor, the newspaper seller, the young boy who always waved at him, the mother with her little daughter—people who had passed by him for years, now stopping to listen.
Then, Victor appeared.
But he wasn’t the same man as before. Gone was the hardened expression. Instead, his eyes held a new light, a peace he had never known.
He stood at a distance, just watching.
Samuel met his gaze and nodded with a warm smile.
Victor took a deep breath, then stepped forward and sat down next to him. People noticed. Whispers spread. The man who once led thieves had now chosen to sit with the beggar who sang about Jesus.
Samuel strummed another chord. “Would you like to sing with me?” Victor hesitated, then nodded. “I don’t know all the words.” Samuel grinned. “That’s alright. Just follow me.”
And so, for the first time in his life, Victor lifted his voice—not in anger or deception, but in worship.
The people watched in amazement. Some clapped, some joined in, and others wiped tears from their eyes.
Samuel had always been loved, but now, the people saw something even greater in him—a man who wasn’t just a beggar, but a messenger of God’s love. And so, the city gathered around him more closely than ever before, drawn by the hope that flowed from his voice.
As long as Samuel had breath, he would sing.
And as long as he sang, lives would continue to be touched. The song of hope would never be silenced.
