Chapter 16
Doctor Stewart called for someone to continue as the group's guide while he dealt with whatever it was that so quickly captured his attention over the phone. His replacement, Doctor Greer, knew nothing about the group or how many should be in attendance. He certainly didn't realize that one of them was missing. But moving forward, he formed his own itinerary and took the reminder of the group to some of the more interesting labs, those projects that involved far more complexity than what they had already seen. He wanted them to not just be interested but fascinated in the development of what some may call the 'technology of the future'. “So,” Doctor Greer began. “He showed you the Lunar Flashlight, huh?”
He let out a brief laugh as he explained its use.
“Do you know what that thing does? It allows you to see water on the lunar surface. Yeah, that's a big deal, right?” He motioned the group through a maze of corridors.
“C'mon, I'll show you some real science.”
The teens wondered if they weren't getting in over their heads and that maybe they might be exposed to something that shouldn't be seen. But with very little conversation between them, the group continued as their new guide began describing what they were about to see, and soon they found out just how talkative their new guide was. Still, no one had realized that one of them was missing.
