Inward travelers
Where did I go wrong? The population is dying. We are now past the point of the ship being not sustainable. Not that I care now. The ship, this world of mine is dying. In no matter of a week all will be dead. I gave the command to replenish our water and soil from a world that showed no life.
We filtered the water, processed the soil but I forgot one thing. They were processed to our known hazards. History was forgotten. When our world’s explorers discovered a new island, a new land, the people there died like we are doing. The things that I forgot was that the natives had no immunity to the common bugs and nasty things that the invaders had.
All that water and soil is killing us. No one is immune to whatever came aboard. I now feel like I am coming down with whatever it is. All I can do is laugh. All the glorious planning. All that prep and all the control I had, I forgot a simple thing. Microscopic bugs, bacteria and viruses, the unknown must be planned for.
We’re all dead but it was fun, for me.
