Chapter Five

Tula’s baby father, Wesley, came on the scene at that moment.

“Tula, you’re a worthless girl to be taking up somebody with the reputation of Fitz. They used to call him the back road specialist. He was on the back roads with all sorts of woman. As far

as I hear, he’s broke.”

“You can go on talking, Wesley. I have a big bank account. I am farming on more than fifty acres of land. I supply schools, supermarkets, hotels and higglers with produce from my farm. I employ eight persons. Does that look like a man who is broke?”

“Fitz, you can’t show off on me. I know how your woman, Tula, and her sister, Denise, operate,” Lena, Wesley’s girlfriend told them. She was a friend of Allison.

“If Wesley hadn’t gotten rid of Tula, he would have been bankrupt a long time ago,” she finished.
“Wesley, your girlfriend is here accusing me of taking away your money. What money is she talking about? The only money I get from you is for my baby,” Tula declared.

“All Denise wants from Jack is his money. I’m glad that he left her. The day when you came and saw me down at his house, I had slept with him from the night before,” Allison stated.

“Lena is just showing off herself. I know she is keeping man with Wesley,” Tula told them.

“It’s you, who is keeping man with Fitz,” Lena stated.

Marlon Brown was another bus operator from Portmore. He was one of Jack’s friends. He came to the party with his woman. He spied Jack and the two men shook hands.

He saw Fitz dancing with Tula and pointed at him.

“I used to pass that guy on the Portmore back road with a lot of women.”

Scott was at the party with Dania. He came over to where Marlon, Jack and some other persons were.

“What Jack and Marlon are saying about Fitz is true. I have said it already, that guy is no good.”

Demar came to the party with his woman, Naomi. Two of Scott’s women, Pat and Janet turned up. Juliet also turned up. Scott went to dance with all three women one after the other. When he returned, Dania had taken a taxi home. He decided to spend the night dancing with all three women separately.

He was dancing with Juliet when Pat began cursing.

“Juliet, just going on as if Scott belongs to her. He belongs to who has a child for him. You don’t have a child for him.”

“I could have several children for him had I wanted, so just back off. You know how many nights I’ve spent with him?” Juliet asked.

“So why you never let him give you a child? You want to trap him into marrying you?” Pat countered.

Pat hissed her teeth and went outside to take a taxi home.

“Juliet, I’m not leaving. I have more rights to him than you. I have two children for him. I’m prepared to fight you and Dania for him,” Janet said.

Two more songs played after which Juliet went to buy some refreshments. Janet went into his arms and they started dancing. Juliet returned.
