Byrd, the eldest of three siblings, developed a passion for reading at a young age. He attended South Lawrence Elementary School, where he frequently engaged with literature beyond his grade level. Growing up in the rural areas of Iron City and Saint Joseph, Tennessee, he was particularly fond of "The Hardy Boys" series.

Byrd dedicated twelve years to working as an EMT before advancing to a paramedic role. His experiences in emergency medical services have profoundly influenced his writing, particularly in works that explore mental health challenges faced by first responders.

In 2021, Byrd embarked on his writing career with the novel "Silverwood Manor," inspired by Stephen King's "Rose Red." He continued to explore various genres with "When Crazy Loves You," a romance thriller loosely based on personal experiences. "Inner Demons," perhaps his most acclaimed work, delves into the struggles of a paramedic dealing with mental health issues, drawing directly from Byrd's professional life. In 2025, he introduced readers to detective Grant Bell in "Blood Eagle," marking the beginning of a new mystery series.
