My Immigrant Story (Antonio)

 

Antonio tells his immigration story through a blog post. In his blog post, he talks about when he was first leaving his home country. He was unable to say goodbye to his grandparents and had to leave his younger brother behind. Being only six years old he recounts how, The whole trip to the United States was full of memories, uncertainty, and sorrow…We were given two water bottles for adults and one for children, plus a few cans of tuna and corn. Once he arrived and settled, he was not able to start school right away, his parents thought, “...that undocumented immigrants were not allowed in schools." While at school, he watched his parents work hard, and worked hehard himself in order to have good academic achievements. A couple of years later, his grandfather died, but being undocumented meant he was not able to go back to Mexico, because he would unable to return to the U.S.
