Author: Jules Verne
Five Union prisoners of war escape in a balloon from Richmond, Virginia, and land on an uninhabited island, where they begin to reconstruct a civilization.
This book is well-written, and exciting, but certainly 'of its time' with regard to environmental and conservation issues. For anyone familiar with other Jules Verne novels, it is written in the same style, and keeps you involved with the characters and the action. Definitely worth reading if you like stories like those from 'Boys' Own.
Eccentric English man, Phileas Fogg, wagers his fortune that he can circumnavigate the world in 80 days, much to the astonishment of his London Club.
