"The English Refugee" follows Jack, an eight year old boy, who is forced to flee abroad with his family when their home town in Kent is bombed. As they try to escape to a refugee camp in Sangatte, they fight to stay together. But to get there, they must first overcome hunger and thirst, rioters and scavengers, a French government unsympathetic to the plight of asylum-seekers, and the sharp end of the invading Russian army.
