Book Description HTML

"Stayed on Freedom's Call: Cooperation Between Jewish And African-American Communities In Washington, DC" synthesizes new interviews with previously known but never integrated information on the shared struggles of the Jewish and Black communities in DC. It also includes two 'imagination-rich' tours of key areas of the city. Shared histories are explored from a new perspective of cultural parallels and parallel circumstances which brought the two communities together in various ways. These are stories that are frequently overlooked or forgotten by younger generations today, partly because so little has been written about them. Past and current convergences of the two communities are discussed and highlighted using song and visualization techniques.
