Finding Your Specific Niche

Now that you know what a niche is, you are ready to find one that will make killing for your business. However, I need to warn you: if you want to build a lucrative and long term business, pay close attention to each of the points and think about them for a while.

You will get gold information here. This is what most Gurus are selling in high end coaching and mentoring programs. But, if you will not be focused and will not dive into this with attention to detail, you can lose thousands of dollars, enormous time, and you will be frustrated as hell.

Let me start by saying that the process or mechanics to find your niche is pretty simple. Most important, and this is what you need to absorb yourself, is the psychology behind each of niches you will discover. You should think only about people, and they needs.

Forget everything you know and focus on 2 questions only:

- who is that person who is searching for your service or product (even if you are affiliate, consider the product or service you promote as your own) and,
- what is their biggest problem why they are searching for your product or service.

If you will find clear answer to those 2 questions, you will make tons of money all the time.

Ok. Let’s look on the methods how you can find the winning niche that will make money for you every day.

Your Very Own Interests

You can actually build a business out of the very things and topics that interest you. In fact, creating a business out of the things or topics that you like is a one of the most powerful starting points. Your own interests are a great source of ideas for what niche to target if you sit down and think about it.

In addition, starting off with your own interests in finding your niche will give you two big advantages.

First, you are part of the niche you are targeting.

Think about that for a moment. Business is passion that equals money in 21st century.

If you are not passionate about what you are doing, you can still make some money, but you will never build a long term residual income business.

Niche in an alliance with your passion will give you a massive competitive advantage. You already have some insider knowledge, and you already know what triggers your attention when it comes to your passion.

Second, you will be persistent when it goes tough.

To build a lucrative business takes time and enormous energy from your part. Persistence is one of those characteristics that most business owners lack the most. Therefore, if your niche will be with your range of passions, you will have strength to do whatever it takes to make it the success.

Niche Finding Exercise
Start your niche-finding exercise with a pen and a pad of paper. Do some brainstorming and list down every single thing that comes to your mind that you enjoy. Be as specific as you can with your list.

What sports do you like playing or watching? List them down. What kind of movies will you spend $12 or so watching at your local movie house? What kind of movies will you buy on DVD or Blu-ray? List them down.

What type of articles do you read first when you go through the morning paper? Put them on paper.

Do you have any hobbies?

Do you like cooking?

Gardening?

Playing music?

Computer games?

Traveling?

Photography?

List them all down.

I am sure you get the point. Make a list of every single item that comes to your mind, and you can start finding your niche from that list. Remember to be as specific as you can in the items that you list, even if you think it is silly.

Following Online Trends

Following online trends is another great source for finding your niche. Trends indicate what is on people's minds at the moment.

By searching online trends, you get to find out the hottest searches on search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing, as well as social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.
You get to be on the loop as to what they are all talking about, tap into their consciousness, get an idea of what they possibly need as indicated by these trends, and how to cash in on it.

One of the best places where you can search online trends is the Google Zeitgeist. The Zeitgeist is Google's aggregator service that you can use to look at search trends for any place and for any period of time. It is a very functional tool for business research.

The next stop would be Google Trends and Hot Trends. In Google Trends, you type in keywords and make a search to see how popular these keywords are. You can even tweak your search by country, region and time period.

Google Hot Trends, on the other hand, tells you the 100 fastest-rising search queries being typed on the Google search engine within the last 24 hours. The data, however, is limited only to searches made within the United States. Hot Trends is always updated constantly within that 24-hour time frame.

00004.jpgYou can also search for niche ideas on Google Think Holiday. It combines information about products that people are buying during some specific days.

This way you can predict what kind of products people are most likely to purchase at some particular point during the year.

Another place you should check out to search trends and find niche ideas is Yahoo! Buzz. Yahoo! Buzz lists down news and articles from all over the Yahoo network, where users can vote them for buzz-worthiness. Top stories are always those with the highest votes. Another similar site that you can look at for niche ideas is Digg.com.

Absolutely must check place is eBay Pulse. There, you will see the current biggest sellers on eBay. You can check out these sellers and see what they have for sale. You will also see the top products and product categories that users are currently searching for on eBay.
The similar niche finder search you can perform on Amazon. You just go to Amazon directory of categories and click on each category to see the hottest products by each of it.

The next step in trend search would be Shopping.com. It is amazing tool that shows top search terms for each of the product categories. On this site alone you can discover tons of niche ideas.

Here is another great tool that represents hot product trends. It is called – TradeKey. On this website, you will find tens of thousands of hot products that people are currently selling. This will give you enormous database of ideas that you can use to brainstorm your money making niche.

What to Do With All These Tools

The purpose to use all these fantastic tools is to find the idea – topic, that you can research later to discover more and to build the whole set of ideas.

Therefore, when you search trends, make sure to have a pen and paper to list down ideas right away. With so many tools available for you, it will not be very hard to find the money making niche.

Discover Ideas with Free Keyword Tools
To discover new niche ideas you can use one of a free keyword tools Google Keyword External Tool and Free Wordtracker Tool. Both are easy to use and give the most accurate data on the market, so it is up to you which one you use. In this stage I would use both to get more ideas.

So, what you should do? Just open each of the tools and type in the ideas from your list. Do the search and check out what searches are being made by other people using this keyword.
For example, here is the screenshot from Google Keyword Tool with the word “tennis” –

Here is the same keyword from Wordtracker –

00009.jpg

So, from researching the keyword "tennis," we have discovered keywords like "tennis shoes," "tennis racquets," "tennis clothing," "tennis rules," "tennis elbow," "table tennis," and so forth. They all sound like good niche ideas, don’t they?

Now let’s put some of the discovery keyword in a search query – for example, “how to tennis” and here is the results

In results, we discovered new keywords like “how to play tennis”, “tennis lessons”, “table tennis paddles” and “tennis equipment” and many others. All of them could be good for further research.

Other Niche Sources

When you are trying to find the specific niche to tackle for your business, you do not have to limit yourself to searching for keywords or online trends. There are many other possible sources that you can turn to, such as books, newspapers and magazines. You can read these materials and get your ideas from there.

I bet you or some other family member has some subscriptions to newspapers or magazines. One of the best ways how to use both sources to get niche ideas is to follow the advertisement.

Ads Tracking Method
Start tracking which ads is running constantly and what they are promoting. If you see the ad for several weeks or even months, you can be sure that the advertisement is successful. Study the company who is running the ad and use its products or services to research new niche ideas with the methods we discussed so far.

You can also go to Magazines.com to discover new niche ideas.

00011.jpg

On this website, you will find tons of magazines in different categories. Choose some category and sort by bestselling and you will get tons of ideas from this method alone.

The best of all, you will see how many magazines are published for each category, which gives you an indication how profitable the niche is. The more magazines are published the more profitable the niche is.

Besides Magazines.com you should check out Amazon.com/magazines and Zinio. Both will give you more choices to find different niche magazines.

EzineArticles.com Method

The other good way to discover new niche ideas is with EzineArticles.com.

00012.jpg

EzineArticles.com is the most popular article directory out there. So, by browsing different article categories and sub-categories you will see how many articles in each of the categories are published. And again, the more articles are published the more profitable the niche is.
However, in this stage your main task is to find as many different niche ideas as you can. So, by browsing different categories in EzineArticles.com, you will come up with new ideas for further research.

Common Sense and Wisdom
Sometimes, niche ideas jump at you without you expecting them. For example, you could be listening to your car radio on the drive to work and something that the radio host says triggers a niche idea in your head.

You could be hanging out with friends at a local bar and something that a friend tells you plants the seed of ideas for possible niches to target in your mind.

There is this saying by Tony Robbins: “Where the focus goes energy flows".

If you will be focused to find new niche you will start to hear what people are saying like never before and you will start to see like never before. This is so, true and I have done it many, many times. It works perfectly.

The best niche ideas always come from people.

You can find possible niche ideas anywhere you turn. You just need to look for them and be ready to act when these ideas hit you.
