A great story. Piper's libertarian philosophy had a big impact on me in my youth.

Richard

As it says in the book description, a classic!

A great book. There are more in the series.

Vickie

Enjoyed this book as a teenager, and was thrilled for the chance to re-read it now in my 50's. Wonderful story of corporate greed fighting to keep control of a world when threatened by the mere possibility of native sentient life having being discovered. It has the best definition of the parameters of sentience anyone could come up with. A good read for all ages.

Keith Ottsman

Very good story about the 'meaning' of sentience. Worth the time as are most of H. Beam Piper's works!
