Civilization for Dummies (A Personal Journey)
Sustainability. It means picking up after yourself. That way, the next person – or the next generation – doesn’t have to deal with crap that isn’t theirs. The harder question involves figuring out what the prerequisites are for sustainability...at every level, from the personal to the global. This book is about one such search. From a young kid who was a thieving little snot, to a more thoughtful university student, who figured out that the answers to the big questions involved things that society was largely ignoring (Deliberative Democracy and entheogens, for example). As part of the search, this person found himself in places as diverse as a Berkeley hippie co-op, an Indian slum, and a 3,000 kilometer bicycle journey with a goal of embarrassing the Prime Minister.
