Delightful retellings of turtle tales from around the world, plus fun facts about turtles, are sure to please all turtle fans.

The book retells traditional turtle legends from around the world, each offering a different origin story.

In these tales, the turtle often begins as a creature without a shell. Through adventures, challenges, or magical transformations, the shell is gained.

Some stories portray the shell as a reward for cleverness or bravery, while others show it as a protective gift from nature or the Gods.

Each retelling emphasizes the turtle's wisdom, patience, or resilience, tying the shell to its enduring character.

Alongside the stories, the book includes fun factual notes about real turtles, blending folklore with natural history.

So, rather than one continuous narrative, the book is a patchwork of origin legends, each answering the question of how the turtle got its shell in a different cultural voice.
