Abigail blinked. The cathedral warped into a backstage green room, where interns served irony on silver platters. Kurt was now surrounded by handlers; one adjusting his disheveled hair to look more “authentically tormented,” another whispering analytics into his ear.
“You’re not who I thought you were,” Abigail said, her voice cracking.
Kurt leaned in, smirking. “Nobody is. Especially not the ones you worship.”
Then he handed her a receipt: “One disillusionment, paid in full.”
Abigail tore it up, and the dream dissolved into feedback and the private Cobain lawsuit against the other two Nirvana members; he wanting all the writing credit as he claimed to be responsible for everything good that they did, while he publicly disdained the adulation, money, and fame.
Complete fucked up asshole, as Kurt would proudly admit.
