As he went pass de alley, B’rer Dog jumped out after him, and run, and push him so close, ’til B’rer Rabbit run up a tree hollow.

B’rer Dog den call B’rer Goose to gaard de tree till he go bring some fire to burn B’rer Rabbit. B’rer Rabbit say, “ B’rer Goose, dat de way you do? Dey put you to gaud me, and you tun your back.“ B’rer Goose say, “ Quack, quack! I can look right on you den.“ When he say dis, he poke his head up de hollow. B’rer Rabbit trow some rotten wood in he eyes. and B’rer Goose begin to paw he eyes wid his foot. B’rer Rabbit come out and gone! When B’rer Dog come back, he mak up a fire and burn de hollow tree down, and could n’t find as much m B’rer Rabbit bones.

B’rer Dog was so mad, dat he tun round and caught hold on B’rer Goose tail, and B’rer Goose fly up in de air, and leave his tail in B’rer Dog mouth. B’rer Dog went back to tell B’rer Wolf dat B’rer Rabbit got away, he could n’t catch him Br Wolf den made a bargain, and play dat he was dead, so dat he could catch B’rer Rabbit. One cold day B’rer Wolf was laid out before de fire on a table. B’rer Dog send round to B’rer Rabbit, to let him know dat B’rer Wolf is die.
